MARKETING STRATEGY

The target audience for Zummer are females 18 years old and older of all ethnicity's .The movie is not restricted to any ethnicities , despite it being a mainly caucasian production due to the actors, actresses, producers, and companies main ethnic group. When strategizing to advertise the film with our target audience it is vital to know their possible forms of communication such as social network sites in order to access our advert to them. E.g Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. It is known that Youtube, a communal video sharing website is extremely popular with our target audience. With an advertising scheme set up by Youtube, where adverts can be played before the viewer watches her selected video, it is definitely worthy to sign up for this and use this scheme to be Zummers main platform of advertising. However the type of video the advert would be played on would expectedly be videos 18 year old girls are commonly watching. Videos such as, hair and make-up tutorials, fashion, hauls,d.i.y,baking and cooking videos. Besides advertising online through the films trailer, adverting in bus stops and train stations are just as important to create awareness for the film as they would be noticed when our target audience are travelling to their education institutes and back. The film would be released in the summer which coincides with the films narrative setting. Another reason July was chosen to premier the movie in summer is that the it is when A level exams are over and our target audience are on a break from school. watching a movie with their friends as a treat for their hard work is the expected thing to do with females of that age. The premier date 10 July is specific to the UK only. Date of premier varies worldwide depending on countries preference .

TV ADVERTISING TASK 4D

WRITTEN RESEARCH COMPANY

  • How did you collate, evaluate and summarise all the research you have done ?
The research I carried out consisted of a questionnaire that was carried out among a group discussion and individually with different people.

  • What procedures did you use to gather the information ?
Information was gathered through various discussions.
Group discussions was amongst 4 people and I was given feedback in relation to my ideas for the product itself, the script and my target customers as well as my targeted audience for the commercial .
Feedback I was given was extremely relevant and helpful. I was told that the script was much too long for a 30 second advert and kindly advised to shorten it.

The questions I asked individually were :

1) Are you familiar with the brand CHANEL ?
2) Do you like their product designs as well as their logo ?
3) What do you think of their designs ?
4)Would you purchase products from CHANEL ?

The questions asked among a focus group were :

1) What do you think of my product ?
2)What do you think of the brand ?
3) What are your thought of my commercial ?
4)Any relevant suggestion or feedback in regards to the advert or product ?

·      What is the quality of the data you have found/generated yourself

My questions were solely based on Primary Research whereby I asked my audience their views on my product, brand and potential commercial.

·      What are your general conclusions

From the research gathered it has been concluded that my product is definitely for mature women and not at all targeted for younger customers. This is due to the brand CHANEL being of a well established high end luxury brand . Its affordability varies according to social class.

·      How has all this research informed the idea for your production.

The research has given me a clearer idea on the ideal customer that is likely to be purchasing my advert. In regards to the commercial it has given me an understanding of compromising my script in order to fit in with the time limit.
